The Law
Act 3 of 2008 is Pennsylvania's new Right-To-Know Law. On December 15, 2008, the Vernon Township Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 2008-9 which establishes the procedure by which Vernon Township will address requests made to it for records under the Right-To-Know Law which took effect January 1, 2009. The purpose of Vernon Township's Open Records Policy and Act 3 is to provide access to public records of Vernon Township, to preserve the integrity of the records of Vernon Township, and to minimize the financial impact to the citizens requesting public records. Open Records Policy
The Vernon Township Open Records Policy ensures compliance with Act 3, provides access to public records, and preserves the integrity of Township records.
Requests for Records
Requests may be submitted in person, by mail, by e-mail, or by fax. All requests must be in writing on the Township's Record Request Form. Arrangements can be made for documents to be viewed at no charge during regular office hours, Monday through Friday.

Burning permits are now being issued through Vernon Township Municipal Building.
You must obtain a permit if you are planning any open burning – the permit does not allow for burning of anything except for wood products, you can not burn any furniture, garbage, or any other materials. If you burn any other materials, the police maybe called and you will not be able to obtain a future permit.
Starting with the first quarter of 2012. Berkheimer Associates will be collecting the local 1% wage tax for the businesses located in Vernon Township. Quarterly forms are available at www.hab-inc.com.
Call the Township Secretary at 814-337-8126. The shelter may be reserved over the telephone and payment made later. Shelter 1, 2, 3, and 4 are $45.00 and Shelter #5 is $80.00.
